General Questions

Valencia is not accounting software.

However Valencia is able to share data with accounting software, complying with Global Data Standards. More importantly Valencia does many things your accounting software may not:

  • immediate project status
  • instant cash flow forecast
  • view project profitability
  • manage your business without an in-house accountant or bookkeeper
  • analyse your financial data
  • see your business as a whole

Clients, Projects, Activities, Calendars, Employees, Suppliers, Assets, Documents, Contacts, Respondents, Marketing Campaigns ... there is a place for almost all of your business information and it's all connected.

Yes you can import data from spreadsheets and text files or even other databases directly.

The staff at Valencia are happy to help you with this; either explaining the import features or completing the import for you.

A relational database stores information in a way that you don't create multiple copies of the same information e.g. you only enter a client once and connect that information to the relevant projects. This prevents duplicate effort and provides greater accuracy. A relational database also allows for a greater variety of reporting and analysis.

Major business software storing information all use relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, Postgres SQL and Microsoft SQL Server

Yes. The database stays in your office. The database is password protected, and the software only allows your employees access to screens that you decide.

No. Valencia is a traditional client-server desktop application running entirely in your office.

"Cloud" or "Saas" (Software as a Service) software stores your business data somewhere in California or Shanghai or Bangalore (or all 3 at the same time) and is only available when you have an internet connection (the faster the better).

A lot of software is going that way and we know people want access to their business information instantly, on any device, from anywhere at anytime. Our road map includes some internet access in late 2013 and a Saas version of Valencia in 2014, and a hybrid version 2015 ( internet access but the database is hosting in your own office.

In the mean-time you can you use remote access (Click Here to learn more ) or (and we will be disappointed) try one of many "Cloud" applications out there.

All of your employees, all at the same time. Valencia is an unlimited user site licence.

But doesn't software cost per user? Yes, most does, but we want you to maximise the use of Valencia in your business and ensure you don't waste time figuring out the minimum number of seats you can get away with or dealing with buying additional licences (and we don't have to write the code to manage limited licences or process your order for another licence now and then).

Remove the confusion and frustration could be our motto.

Doesn't that mean I pay more?.

No it means we make less but dont take our word for it; check your Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) with Valencia compared to your other options and let us know if you find a better deal.

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) refers to the full cost (to your business) of purchasing, installing, configuring, customizing, data transfer, hosting, training, upgrades, support incurred when you purchase software. ( Perhaps you could include lost production and other opportunity costs as well)

The key here is to understand that the purchase price is only a small portion of the actual cost to your business. So a apparently cheap purchase can cost a lot more in the long run and that expensive ERP software that has all the bells and whistles will be a lot more expensive after you pay for customization and train your staff.

Valencia is wll priced for its feature set. Installation and configuration are quick and easy; you will almost certainly get by with your existing hardware and management is almost non-existent. As well as these benefits that simplicity and consistency of Valencia means that you will need very little training, most people require none.

The end result, your Total Cost of Ownership is kept low.

Yes your licence allows unlimited use within the same business. The way to achieve this is through remote access (talk to your IT people) or, if you only need read only access you could get a copy of the database on a regular basis.

Unfortunately not straight out of the package. However you can store what ever language text you like in the database and all of the menus, labels, titles and messages can be configured for other languages.

If you are serious about Valencia in another language please contact one of our offices but please remember we may not have a native speaker of your language close at hand.
